Not surprisingly, the top five in overall ranking are Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. While at the bottom you’ll find North Korea along with a number of authoritarian African regimes.
On taxes, many nations have a zero percent personal rate. While the highest – 65% – is found in Sweden.
The highest per capita GDP – $179,478 – is found in Liechtenstein, followed by Monaco, Qatar, Luxembourg and Singapore.
Want to live long? Monaco’s life expectancy is over 89 years – though we don’t know whether or how that would apply to those relocating there at various life stages.

YOU HAVE THE WHEREWITHAL.
ALL YOU NEED IS THE WHERE.

Home: It’s where the heart is, where Dorothy and ET wanted – needed – to get to. Home is central to our concept of ourselves. And if you’re reading this, chances are that the country you choose to call home will be central to your financial planning strategy – not to mention your future happiness and well-being.
All of which is why we created this interactive tool, the World Residence Index: To provide you with detailed, fact-based, objective information to help you choose a new place of residence.
And just to be clear: our index is a residence index. It’s not a passport index – an oversimplified and, frankly, not useful list of countries to which a given passport provides visa-free travel access. A residence index, by contrast, takes account of many factors – factors that will make a tangible, quantifiable difference in your life and lifestyle.
Before you invest money in a new residence, invest some time in the World Residence Index. This unbiased tool is nothing less than your definitive resource for comparing all the world’s countries across key characteristics based on objective scores across consistent, standardized parameters. It’s a tool developed by economics PhD’s – and designed for easy use by nonspecialists.

So: Why are you here?

Maybe you have a fascination with data, statistics, rankings, reports. Maybe you used to be that kid whose idea of a fun Friday night was to peruse the World Almanac and Book of Facts. Maybe you mistyped and you’re actually looking for the World Presidents Index.
Or maybe, just maybe
you’re looking for something more.

If you’re like many visitors to the World Residence Index, you’re successful. Quite successful, to be honest. You’re financially secure. You’ve got a great family, maybe two. You have – or have access to – the requisite flying or floating toys, vacation communities, adventure travel and the like. You’ve got it pretty good.
And yet. There it is:
That yearning.
Because beneath that lovely, aspirational, Robb Report veneer of a lifestyle, you want something more for yourself and your loved ones. Not a thing so much as a feeling.
Let’s call it peace of mind
You want what everyone wants: Privacy. Security, not just in the financial sense. A feeling of wellbeing. You’ve earned that, haven’t you? Yes, chances are you have, but chances are also that you don’t necessarily have that feeling of wellbeing. Nor are you sure how to get it: Search for a wellbeing consultant?

And that is the underlying purpose of the WRI, the reason those women and men with their thick glasses and advanced R skills come to work every day: To help people in your position maximize their ability to achieve and enjoy the lifestyle they envision for themselves and their families – not just materially, but mentally as well.

A Few Words from Our Nerds
(How We Compiled This Index)
The index is built with hard data by men and women who spend their lives engaged in statistical modeling. (Don’t feel bad, they make good money and also have hobbies.) The nature of their work is that they are experts in unearthing, evaluating and analyzing data – and making the outputs of that data intelligible to people who don’t have degrees in data science.
